Welcome new VPA students! We are thrilled that you have decided to join us this fall.

From this point forward, the VPA Office of Student Success will the Office of Academic and Career Advising will be your main point of contact for questions regarding advising, academic progress, and any others you might have as you start your academic career at Syracuse University.

The first step in the process is to confirm that you have received (and reviewed) your preliminary transfer credit evaluation letter in the mail. In order to make sure we have your latest information, regarding credits taken at other institutions, we need you to submit any and all final transcripts (grades from your final semester at your current institution) directly to our office. Please have official transcripts forwarded to the following address:

Transfer Credit Evaluation

For us to accurately create a transfer credit evaluation and an academic plan for you, we will need all course descriptions or course syllabi for all the classes you took at your previous institution. Please make sure to send this information as soon as possible to our email address: vpaosa@syr.edu.

Once your official transcript and additional materials have been provided, be on the look out for a transfer credit evaluation. These are sent to your email address. Make sure to request official copies of your transcript be sent to our office via email or mailed directly:

College of Visual and Performing Arts
Syracuse University
200 Crouse College
Syracuse, NY 13244-1010

If you completed coursework during the spring semester, you should please wait until those grades have been applied posted before requesting a final transcript. Once we have processed your final transcriptstranscript, you will receive an updated credit evaluation letter or email outlining the number of transfer credits that have been accepted, as well as their SU equivalencies.

The second step is all about registration. VPA opens registration for transfer students in July. A representative from the VPA Office of Student Success will be in contact with you via email starting in early June to assist you in making an appointment with an advisor to discuss course selections so we can build your schedule in July. Beginning August 1 your class schedule will be available for viewing on MySlice.

Helpful information may be found in Resources and New Student FAQs, which includes a section for transfer students. Another great resource to check this summer is ReadySet, which contains a variety of information for new transfer students at Syracuse University as well as a step-by-step guide to a successful and smooth transition to Syracuse University..

Please understand that due to the sequential nature of our programs, we cannot guarantee that your graduation timeline will align with your previous institution.

Registration

You will receive a Qualtrics form in June and then a staff member will contact you to assist with course selections. Course options will be dependent on required courses and elective availability.
