As of July 1, 20242025, Syracuse University has made the following determinations regarding the program meeting specific state licensure or certification requirements:

...

** CA- Students can be licensed in CA but must take 2 extra courses in CA during or post MA.

*** KS- Although Kansas licensure requirements state that COAMFTE accredited programs are accepted, they also state that more than 50% of a program must be completed “in residence”. Online students are encouraged to check with the Kansas licensure board for information regarding state requirements.

**** NH-Online programs are not accepted in New Hampshire because New Hampshire rules require applicants to complete a minimum of one year of full-time academic graduate study in residence at the institution granting the degree.

We recommend students contact the appropriate state licensing agency in their state or the state where they intend to work to seek the most up-to-date information about state licensure/certification requirements before beginning the program. Information in the table above will be reassessed and updated by July 1 each year.
