titleSport Analytics (SAL)

Current Syracuse University students (including Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics students) interested in an Intra-University Transfer into Sport Analytics (SAL) should review the transfer criteria below and complete an SAL IUT application form. For more info, contact friverso@syr.edu.

Deadlines to apply: November 1st for Spring entry; March 1st for Fall entry. Due to course sequencing and enrollment limitations, students must have a minimum of four semesters remaining on campus to complete the major requirements.

The following criteria must be met and will be adhered to by the Sport Analytics IUT committee:

  1. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5

  2. To complete the requirements of the Sport Analytics degree within a four-year plan of study; students must have a minimum of four remaining semesters of study on campus

  3. Completed, or in the process of completing, a minimum of 24 credits of coursework at SU when applying

  4. Recommended completion of the following courses: MAT 221, MAT 295, ECN 101 and/or ECN 102 (included in the 24 credit hours required)

  5. Recommended completion of at least two semesters of foreign language coursework (included in the 24 credit hours required)

Materials to be submitted:

  1. Two to three page typed essay that includes the following:

    • Reason for pursuing the degree

    • Specific areas of interest in sport analytics

    • Proposed research interests as it relates to the senior thesis requirement

    • Sport-related experience (volunteer, internship, experiential, and/or community service work)

  2. Current resume, including prior sport industry and/or analytical experience

A personal interview with the Sport Analytics IUT transfer committee may be arranged for qualified students based on the criteria listed above. While careful consideration will be given to all students who meet the outlined criteria, acceptance into Sport Analytics can only be granted on space availability based on current enrollment.

titleSport Management (SPM)

Current Syracuse University students (including David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics students) interested in an Intra-University Transfer into Sport Management should review the transfer criteria below and complete an SPM IUT application form. Intra-University Transfer Policy Deadlines are: November 1 for Spring and March 1 for Fall entry.

The following criteria must be met and will be reviewed by the SPM faculty committee:

  1. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.

  2. To complete the SPM degree requirements within a four-year plan of study, SU students must have a minimum of five remaining semesters of study.

  3. Minimum of 24 completed credit hours at Syracuse University.

  4. It is required that applicants have completed SPM 205, or be enrolled in the course when applying. It is also highly recommended that applicants take an SPM elective prior to applying.

  5. Complete and submit an SPM Intra-University Transfer application.

  6. Submit a resume.

  7. Submit a two-to-three page type-written essay explaining:

    • academic interest in sport management

    • desired career track (i.e. marketing, legal studies, communications, business management, etc.)

    • prior sport industry experience

    • sport-related volunteer and/or community service work

    • internship experience

  8. A personal interview with the SPM transfer committee may be arranged by the department after the IUT application deadline.
