Adding a Banner to Your Course 

If your course does not have an existing banner, and you would like one to add to the aesthetic of your Course page, here are quick steps to add one to your course.

5. Once you have completed step 4, you can select "Save". Your banner should display immediately. If not, please refresh the page. Please note that your course banner image is the same image that is applied to your course card when you view your courses in grid view.

Viewing the Course Image

Courses that have an existing banner image are shown when viewing your course list in grid view. The image appears at the top of each course card, above the course ID and name (see image below). Newly-created courses will be randomly assigned a default course image by the Blackboard system.

Ways to Access Banner for Editing Purposes 

1. If you need to change an existing banner image, in grid  view you can  hover your cursor over the image on  your course card then click on the ellipsis menu to show the dropdown list. Select "Edit course image"  to open the display settings.

2.  Alternatively,  on the Course page, you can access the banner from the left hand menu by clicking the "Edit display settings" under Details & Actions (see image below). You can also access your banner by hitting the pen icon on the far upper right on the existing banner (see image below).

Removing Course Banner

Repeat step 1 or 2 in "Ways to Access Banner for Editing Purposes". Under the Display Settings dialog box you will note that the Course Banner is toggled "on". If a course banner is not desirable then toggle to "off" and then click on the "Save" button at the bottom of the dialog box. You also select select the delete button at top right of the Display Settings dialog box.
