The department faculty and staff look forward to meeting in person with our MPA Colloquium, held starting July 5, 20222023.

The MPA Colloquium is our orientation to the Maxwell School and the MPA degree and we will have more information on the content in mid-June, but please plan to be present from 9 am to 5 pm from July 5 to July 8.

 Curriculum Overview

The Master of Public Administration (MPA) features three primary curricular components.  These are detailed in our graduate student handbook, available at http://answers.syr.edu, please read the handbook before arriving on campus.

  • PAI 600 – Public Administration Colloquium (1 credit)
  • PAI 734 755 – Public Budgeting Administration & Democracy (3 credits)
  • PAI 755 734 – Public Administration & Democracy Budgeting (3 credits)

These classes are designed as full-time classes and run from Monday to Friday.  The Public Affairs Colloquium meets from 9 to 5, and Public Budgeting and Public Administration and Democracy meet from 9 to 1.

Please enroll in these summer classes prior to June 15, 20222023.  You will register for these classes on MySlice.  Instructions for registration are available online at https://answers.syr.edu/display/Maxwell/Registering+for+Classes.

Please note that MPA students are limited to no more than 6 classes outside of the Department of Public Administration and International Affairs.
