Alumni and Student Inactive | Alumni affiliation is acquired by former active students who have a graduated and completed a program of study at Syracuse University. The acquisition of this affiliation typically occurs within 3 months of the completion of the program of study. Student Inactive affiliation is acquired by former active students that have discontinued their program of study and do not also have another completed or active program of study. The acquisition of this affiliation typically occurs within 30 days to 2 years of the last academic term dictating by the school or college. Former SUPA students also acquire student inactive affiliation within 30 days of last academic term. | Former students retain access to most IT resources for 12 months following graduation. Alumni MySlice access is retained for 24 months. Other former students maintain access for 12 months. Former student email, Blackboard, and Handshake access is maintained through yearly password change requirements. Alumni that have never logged into Handshake can create an account. | Adobe - Access to the Adobe Creative Cloud suite and its licensing ends after graduation or leaving the University. |

Access to Blackboard remains as long as the NetID password is maintained (i.e. changed yearly per password change requirement).
Access to courses is disabled 30 days after the end of a semester unless the instructor overrides the course end date.
SUMail remains available to alumni under the current agreement with Microsoft and is contingent on the maintenance of annual NetID password changes.
Microsoft reserves the right to display advertisements to alumni.
Non-alumni former faculty and staff should contact their departmental IT support staff to inquire when access may be impacted. Faculty-retirees retain access.
Students
Expressions - Former students who had Expressions sites prior to August 1, 2021 can access an archived copy of their site information by logging into Expressions thru July 31, 2022. |
Existing netid.expressions.syr.edu sites remain available under the current Expressions offering—sites are not deprovisioned based on current status.

Access removed two (2) years after last registered term.
12 months after you graduate or leave the university, the subscription will expire and you will no longer be able access data stored services such as OneNote, OneDrive, Teams or SharePoint; and you will no longer be able to create/edit documents using an Office 365 local installation (e.g. Word, Powerpoint, Excel).
Handshake
Access to Handshake remains available as long as the NetID password is maintained (i.e. changed yearly per password change requirement).
Alumni are not imported into the system, so if they have not yet created an account they will need to do so.
Department may remove access anytime after the effective date of retirement or resignation. If no action is taken, staff that resign or retire lose access after 30 days and faculty that resign lose access after one (1) year. Faculty retirees retain access.
Users will maintain their Syracuse University Zoom account for the indicated period of time
Printing - While former students can log into lab machines for a period of time, their printing accounts as active users are no longer. A guest print account will be needed. Instructions to create the account can be found on the Guest Printing page. Zoom - Former students will maintain their Syracuse University Zoom account, however, the account will be moved to a 'Basic' level account. The Zoom Basic account will no longer have the benefits of a Zoom Edu Pro license. | |||
Faculty/Staff Inactive and Staff Retired | Staff Inactive affiliation is acquired the day after the job end date, as determined by Human Resources, by former staff who leave the University for any reason, including resignation or retirement. Faculty Inactive affiliation is acquired the day after the job end date, as determined by Human Resources, by former faculty who leave the University for any reason but have not retired. | Former staff who have retired or left the University and faculty who have not retired lose access to IT resources, including email, the day after their last recorded day of work.
