The VPA plot labs offer student’s access to state-of-the-art printing technologies for large format full color printing. Within the lab, we can print on over nine different types of paper including Matt-Poly, Adhesive Matt-Poly, Super Heavy Weight, Coated, Vellum, Clear Film, Semi-Gloss, Gloss Photo, and Scrim. All plot labs within the VPA are staffed with technicians who will assist students with the printing process. All files prepared for the printing process will be submitted through one of the technicians on staff. USB drives can be signed out for easy of file transfer.

All students within VPA start the school year off with a credit of $20.00 for paper printing. Students can take advantage of this credit throughout any building on campus that has open access paper printing. A list of available printers/rates can be found at printing.syr.edu. Once logged in using your SU netID and password, students can release print jobs, view recent jobs, add funds, etc.

After you have sent a job to be printed, you must visit http://printing.syr.edu Log in with your NETID, to release any jobs to be printed. Adding a PaperCut printer from a S.U. owned Windows machine. 1. Search and launch desktop Settings.
2. Click Devices -> Printers and Scanners. 
3. Click Add a Printer or Scanner.
4. Click The printer I want isn't listed.
5. Click Find a printer in the directory, based on location or feature.  6. In the name field enter the printer name located on the printer. 
7. When the list of printers appears below select the printer you want.
8. On the "You've successfully added" window click Next -> Finish.
9. Go to https://printing.syr.edu to release your print job. Wireless Printing from a NON SU owned machine – Windows (SURA). 1. Click the Start button and type run into the search box and press Enter. This box should show up:
2. Type \\vpa-papercut-01.ad.syr.edu\ into the run dialog box and click OK. 3. Type: User: AD\NETID Password: Your NETID Password*Make sure you check Remember my credentials*. 
4. Double Click on the printer you wish to install and click on Install Driver.  5. Go to https://printing.syr.edu to release your print job. Setting up a printer on a MAC. 1.Under System Preferences, Printers & Scanners click on the plus button. 2. From the Add Printer window, right click on the top title area (anywhere with open gray space) and select Customize Toolbar. 3. Drag the Advanced(round gear) icon up tothe Add Printer title bar.  4. Click the advanced icon. 5. Change the Type to Windows, enter the URL of the windows print queue, change the name to match the printer.(You can find the print queue name labeled on the actual printer or login to printing.syr.edu to search printer names/locations.)  6. Visit printer manufacturers website to download and install applicable driver. Under Choose a Driver or Printer Model, Select Printer Software... 7. Find your printer model, hit OK, and setup and optional settings (extra trays, duplex, memory, etc.). Once you hit OK your printer should be installed. 8. You will then be prompted to authenticate. Please enter your NetID and password. 9. Go to https://printing.syr.edu to release your print job.  |
