How Does it work?

The system is self-service! iSchool course instructors are allowed to setup their own ist-s-students space by visiting the section under My It Services. When the instructor makes the request to create the accounts a script carries out the task usually within the hour. Each account has:

now tied in with the campus Active Directory, so your SU NetID and password are used for authentication. Also, accounts are now generated automatically - so there is no need for instructors to create accounts for their classes.

  • Administrative access to their own SQL Server Database

  • Each IST student is provided a folder on the G-drive for their web home directory (G:\IST\IST-S-STUDENTS\*netid*)

What if my student is in another class also using this service?

If your student needs an entirely different database rather than just using new tables, please submit a helpdesk ticket via https://my.ischool.syr.edu/ and we can accommodate.
